On 21st January, 2017, I reported here that Bishop Rigoberto Corredor Bermudez of Colombia had unjustly suspended Fr. Luis Carlos Uribe Medina a divinis, because that faithful young priest had refused to go along with heretical and sacrilegious Amoris Laetitia instructions to give Holy Communion to adulterers.

On 3rd February, 2017, I happily gave an update to the story; acknowledging and celebrating the fact that Bishop Bermudez had reinstated Fr. Medina. The bishop had ''recognised his mistake, accepted the arguments of the priest re-instituting the priestly magisterium and announced that he forbids in his diocese to give Communion to the divorced and remarried in civil or free union. Also the bishop said to be obedient, first of all, to the Sacred Catholic Doctrine.''

At that time, I concluded: ''It is marvellous to hear that Fr. Medina has been vindicated in this manner. Whilst we think it important to keep a watchful eye on this situation as it develops, we rejoice to hear that Bishop Bermudez appears to have had this change of heart and practice. At the end of the day, this is the kind of happy outcome we all really desire - with those who have been promoting sinful adultery and sacrilege coming to their senses, repenting and making good within the unity of Christ's Church. So, hopefully, this is the end of that particular saga, and we therefore give thanks for Bishop Bermudez' restorative actions and ask for God's blessing on him, and for ongoing strength and protection for the good Fr. Medina.''

All well and good, so far.

It had always been my intention to go back and append that February 2017 news update to the original January 2017 story, so that those subsequently accessing images or news of Bishop Bermudez, especially those who may not have otherwise seen our subsequent update, would get to read not only the fact of the bishop's error, but of how he had then corrected things in their proper and just order within a few weeks.

Alas, due to a combination of laxity, forgetfulness and simply becoming sidetracked by other things on my part, I never did append that update to the original story.

Occasionally, the thought crossed my busy mind that I ought to carry out that good intention, but I never transformed that into action. At other times, I was just too lazy to do so.

That was wrong of me; I should have been as quick to append that update as I had been to issue the original strongly worded report.

By God's grace, whilst preparing for my Christmas Confession earlier today, I was strongly convicted of this fact and logged on to this site - for the first time in several months, due to various pressures, issues and a need to pray and go deeper with Christ - to check on the original story and see about inserting the update to it.

I have to say that, given Bishop Bermudez' above-mentioned corrective measures, and the positive words we ourselves had also posted here about him in the second article on the matter in February 2017, (just described above), I was mortified to see that the original - and thus not justly updated article - has been appearing high up on the list of search-engine news items about Bishop Bermudez for some time.

Under the circumstances, I also now regret that I had described Bishop Bermudez, in both the title and photograph of the first article, as a ''Bergoglian Bullyboy.'' Although the initial actions of the bishop were certainly wrong, I now hold that I should have spoken more respectfully of a prelate who, whatever human failings he may have, remains ontologically a Bishop of Christ's Church in his very essence.

Clearly, although I had provided a second article as a just update about the case, it has been wrong of me to have left the earlier article all this time without the necessary update, in a way which may have caused harm to the bishop's good name to those searching for information about him on-line for the first time. I want to apologise to Bishop Bermudez, and to anyone who may have been led by my omission to think ill of him, for this.

The action I am taking is thus to take down the original article and to leave this new one as a final on-line record on the matter, with the intention of making just restitution to Bishop Bermudez.

I will also be mentioning this in my next Confession and praying for Christ's blessings on Bishop Bermudez and Fr. Medina.

There will be some who will see my post today in a cynical light, others may think I've gone soft, or else that I have been somehow ''got at'' by someone. I categorically deny any of this; my motive is purely to repent and then make restitution for a personal sin of omission, in order that we may all celebrate the Birth of Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ in a renewed spirit of hope, peace and authentic Christian charity.

In preparing this post, I have also discovered that, following a terrible murder in one of his churches, Bishop Bermudez has recently called on all of his diocesan priests to make an act of reparation in their parishes to reaffirm the sacredness of human life and to foster respect for the Eucharist and sacred places.

So, credit where it's due and all that.

Whilst on-line, I apologise for the unavoidable lack of posts here in recent months and thank all the faithful readers who have kindly continued to visit the site and most especially those who have tried to contact us.

May you all receive the blessings of Christ in these final, and spiritually important, days of Advent 2018.

May God give us all the grace to make a good Confession as we await the Birth of the Christ-Child in just a few short days.

Yours in the love of Christ - Alan John Houghton.
