To misquote Jane Austen's fictional Lady Catherine de Bourgh: Are the shades of Canterbury to be thus polluted?

''Coincidences are Spiritual Puns'' (G.K. Chesterton).

Deacon Nick Donnelly has reported for EWTN GB on the fact that the Anglican leader Justin Welby is allowing a full Masonic ceremony to take place this Saturday, 18th February, 2017, in the ancient Canterbury cathedral. Even more remarkably, this travesty will take place on the very same day that Cardinal Nichols will reconsecrate England and Wales to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Westminster.

News reports suggest that £300,000 has been donated by the Masons for a 3 hour use of the cathedral to celebrate 300 years of Freemasonry. Surely, there is some Masonic numerology in all of that...

Having described the violent history of Masonic hostility to Our Lady of Fatima, Deacon Nick's article reflects: ''In view of this history of Masonic anti-Catholicism, is it more than an unhappy coincidence that a major Masonic service is being conducted in the ancient mother Church of the Catholic faith in these lands on the very same day that England is reconsecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in honour of Our Lady of Fatima? Even if it is coincidence, it is a conjunction of events that is profoundly significant and meaningful.''

It would perhaps be difficult to overstate the full gravity of this situation in terms of where we are up to in the spiritual warfare of these present times. Clearly, things are hotting up...

Public Rebellion Against God

To give a bit of background, let us quote some words that we first featured here a couple of years ago. In Humanum Genus (1884), Pope Leo XIII wrote: ''At this period, however, the partisans of evil seem to be combining together, and to be struggling with united vehemence, led on or assisted by that strongly organized and widespread association called Freemasons. No longer making any secret of their purposes, they are now boldy rising up against God Himself. They are planning the destruction of holy Church publicly and openly, and this with the set purpose of destroying utterly the nations of Christendom, if it were possible, of the blessings obtained for us through Jesus Christ our Saviour... that which is their ultimate purpose forces itself into view - namely, the utter overthrow of that political and religious order of the world which the Christian teaching has produced, and the substitution of a new state of things in accordance with their ideas, of which the foundations and laws shall be drawn from mere naturalism.''

Last October, we spoke out here against the religious indifferentism, and false impression which misled many in relation to the objective invalidity of Anglican orders, that Pope Francis promoted by giving a ''mixed blessing'' (pardon the pun) with Justin Welby in Rome. At the time, we mentioned the unusual diamond-shaped hand-sign seemingly being displayed by Welby. It is notable that, just a few months later, he is permitting Freemasonry, the sworn enemy of Catholic Truth, to hold rites in the ancient Canterbury Cathedral. During the week of Welby's visit to Rome, the dome of St. Peter's was again struck by lightning...

A booklet worth reading in this context is John Vennari's study, The Permanent Instruction of the Alta Vendita - A Masonic Blueprint for the Subversion of the Catholic Church. It is a text that certainly makes for a sobering read, given all that is happening in the Church and society today.

Another good source to draw from is Professor Plinio Correa de Oliveira's, Revolution and Counter-Revolution. In his final version of this book, the good Prof. Plinio described a ''fourth stage of revolution'' in which reason would have become so atrophied and enslaved, and true religion so widely supressed and despised, that magic would come to be presented and accepted as a form of knowledge.

Thus, in the fourth stage of the ongoing anti-Christian revolution, such as we now appear to be very much living in the midst of, the way would be opened for the public worship of the Devil.

The Catholic and Civilizational Importance of Canterbury

canterbury_tales_31.jpg
Although there is no documentary record of St. Augustine's Throne at Canterbury before 1205 AD, the Cathedra provides a strong visual reminder of St. Augustine's mission from Pope St. Gregory the Great in 597 AD.

We have mentioned here a few times that the papally-endorsed mission of St. Augustine to Canterbury played a foundational role in both Catholic and civilizational history. Scholars observe that the desire and work of the See of Canterbury to draw the Angles and Saxons into the unity and obedience of faith was an important factor in the emergence of a people known as the Angli; or the English to you and I.

In the centuries that followed, English Catholicism issued forth great saints who contributed so much to the flowering of European civilization. Examples include figures like St. Boniface, with his evangelizing missions to the Germanic peoples representing key moments in the development and strengthening of Christendom.

Then there was St. Alcuin of York who achieved so much for the development and expansion of the Carolingian renaissance.

Even if we just think of Canterbury itself, we can remember St. Anselm's vast contributions in the fields of reason and theology, which still reverberate to this day; and then there is the manner in which St. Thomas' lived-example, martyrdom and miraculous cult made Canterbury into a major site of pilgrimage throughout Europe, and even beyond.

Of course, all of this would come literally crashing down with the depradations of King Henry VIII and the English version of the 16th-Century Protestant Revolution; which latter so violently suppressed the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and handed Canterbury cathedral over to four centuries of Protestant ceremony.

As bad as all of that was, who would have thought it would eventually lead to public celebrations of Freemasonry? Well, perhaps no-one was looking hard enough at the connections...

England and Prophecy

canterbury_tales_34.jpg

Perhaps it has been part of the English character to have high notions about our importance in world history. Mad dogs and Englishmen and all that! Still, there are a number of prophecies which are worth reflecting on when considering the present intensity in the spiritual battle.

In the first instance, it is worth recalling that England was known in medieval Europe as the ''Dowry of Mary''. In those times, the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham became one of the major pilgrimage sites. It was even up there with St. James' cathedral at Compostela in Spain. Much of that history was forgotten in the centuries following the Reformation. However, since the last decades of the 20th-Century, Walsingham has enjoyed something of a spiritual renaissance. This movement increased dramatically when Pope Benedict XVI did so much for the establishment of the Anglican Ordinariate, dedicated as it is to Our Lady of Walsingham.

Then there is the vivid prophecy of the holy Italian boy, St. Dominic Savio.

We have been told that not all viewers to this website can see the moving banner which should play when you visit our Home Page.

If it is working correctly, you should see a slightly foggy looking image, across which unfurl the brightening words of St. Dominic Savio's vision of England. The young saint had conveyed to Bl. Pope Pius IX the message that he had seen a vision of the Supreme Pontiff holding aloft a burning torch to guide the people of England, who were lost in a fog of ignorance and error. St. Dominic Savio said: ''The leaping flames from the torch dispelled the fog, and the people of England stood in the splendour of the noonday sun. That torch, said the one beside me, is the Catholic Faith that is going to light up England.''

If you have not been able to see the moving banner, now you know why we are called ''Torch of The Faith''! We use a capital ''T'' to signify that this is The Faith.

Then there are the words of Our Lady at La Salette about a Great Apostasty being reversed. ''A great country, now Protestant, in the north of Europe, will be converted. By the support of this country, all the other nations of the world will be converted.''

Could that be England?

Some folks think so. Especially in light of Ven. Bartholomew Holzhauser's suggestion that, ''after desolation has reached its peak in England, peace will be restored and England will return to the Catholic Faith with greater fervour than before.''

Or how about St. John Vianney's belief that ''the Church in England will recover her ancient splendour''? Or maybe St. Malachy's prophecy that Ireland would help to bring England back to the unity of the True Church?

When Bishop Mark Davies was appointed to Shrewsbury, and accomplished so much for orthodoxy and evangelization, a few of us seemed to glimpse the beginnings of the fulfillment of Blessed Cardinal John Henry Newman's line which held that, ''Shrewsbury will be a name as stirring to the heart as the glories we have lost.'' Certainly, the ICKSP shrine that he established in the Shrewsbury Diocese stands out as the ''Beacon of Hope'' that he called for in his sermon the day the shrine officially opened in 2012.

When St. Augustine arrived in Kent, he discovered that Queen Bertha was already a Christian with a Frankish chaplain and a small church dedicated to St. Martin. King Ethelbert gave this church to St. Augustine as an initial base. One year later, St. Augustine wrote to Pope St. Gregory and to the Patriarch of Alexandria with the news that King Ethelbert and 10,000 people had been baptized! The church of St. Martin is now Anglican and has naturally been changed several times since 597 AD. However, it still contains many of the original red Roman bricks and some entire walls are made with red Roman tiles!

An Important Day - Please Pray Saturday at 2pm UK Time

All that we have written above suggests that England may have a key part to play in the spiritual battles of our times. Whatever the truth of that, it remains the case that Canterbury has been an important See in the history of Catholicism in particular, and Western civilization in general. This is why this Masonic use of the old cathedral, itself the original Mother Church of English Catholicism, should have us all praying in reparation.

In any case, now fully aware that the ancient Catholic Canterbury cathedral - which has been in Protestant hands for four centuries - will be used for Masonic rites, and that Cardinal Nichols will on this same day be consecrating England and Wales to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and crowning a statue of Our Lady of Fatima, we implore readers to please join in by: praying the Rosary, interceding for England, and re-consecrating their own hearts, homes and lands to Our Blessed Lady.

We have just a couple of caveats to mention in relation to tomorrow's event.

Firstly, Cardinal Nichols has repeatedly appeared alongside Justin Welby to promote ''ecumenism'' and Islamic immigration. Remember, this is the Anglican leader who has permitted Canterbury to be handed over to Masonic rites for 3 hours tomorrow...

Then, too, Cardinal Nichols has a history of publicly supporting sex-education, dissenting homosexualist groups and the Kasperian ''accompaniment'' party-line at the Synods of '14 and '15; all to the scandal and confusion of faithful Catholics.

It is marvellous to see that Cardinal Nichols now intends to re-consecrate England and Wales to the Immaculate Heart of Mary tomorrow; and we encourage all our readers to pray for His Eminence and for the success of this event.

At the same time, for this to be a genuine sign of commitment to Our Lady of Fatima, who warned about the sins of the flesh leading most souls to Hell, it would be appropriate for Cardinal Nichols to publicly demonstrate repentance for any of the ways his leadership has offended against that truth.

It would also be important for His Eminence to call his good friend Justin Welby to repentance for permitting Freemasonic rites in Canterbury cathedral; and to teach him of the True Faith founded by Our Lord Jesus Christ on the Apostles.

Then again, whilst we deeply respect the good people and much of the work of the World Apostolate of Fatima, not least this initiative for tomorrow's reconsecration, the evidence suggests to us that their notion that the Consecration of Russia has already been acheived is not correct.

Indeed, had this Consecration of Russia been accomplished according to the request of Our Lady, the victory of the Immaculate Heart would already be apparent to all and there would be no need for local consecrations of this nature.

Therefore, we do pray that tomorrow's consecration will: please Our Lady; draw graces down for the eventual Consecration of Russia to please her still more; draw much-needed graces for the re-conversion of our nation; protect against Freemasonic subversion; and make reparation for the further desecration of Canterbury cathedral tomorrow.

At Pegwell Bay in Kent there stands this Celtic cross to mark the site where it is believed that St. Augustine first landed and met with King Ethelbert in 597 AD.

In the late summer of 2013, we travelled to pray at Canterbury for the reconversion of England back to Our Lord Jesus Christ and the One, True, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Faith. Most of the pictures in this article were taken during that blessed pilgrimage.

We sense that today will be an important stage in the battle for the soul of our nation, the future of Western civilization and the souls of countless people in these tumultous times.

Please, do pray along with us today and reconsecrate your lives to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Our Lady of Walsingham - Pray for us!
