The Glories of St. Joseph

After the Sacred Scriptures and the Catechism of the Catholic Church, if we were to name one book that has been definitive in our life and marriage, it would be this one - The Glories of St. Joseph from Traditions Monastiques.

In 2003 some close friends gave us a copy of this book. At the beginning of 2004 we began its Thirty Days Prayer to St. Joseph in Honour of the Thirty Years Spent with Jesus and Mary.

We made this prayer so that we could find a job where we could use our gifts and talents in the service of the Lord and His Catholic Church.

During the weeks of prayer, in our little prayer room in our home, St. Joseph came into our lives. He was no longer a distant figure in a statue - He was a real and most beautiful person in our lives.

And in the days and weeks that followed our lives changed dramatically and forever. Suddenly we found ourselves on a radically life-changing journey. It was almost like the seas parted... We found that we were to go and live in America and study at Franciscan University of Steubenville... Our home was rapidly sold... And by July of 2004 we were already living in America!

Since then the journey has continued to dramatically unfold. Many miracles have happened to us since then. Our faith has been tested and deepened. We now know that we should go to St. Joseph with our problems - He is the foster father of Jesus and the greatest saint after Our Blessed Lady.

All of which means that it is with great joy that we received a request from Angela Gregory - the Diocesan Youth Worker for Wrexham Diocese - to join in a St. Joseph novena during these next days leading up to his great feast day on 19th March. The intention of the novena is the success of the upcoming youth retreats that will take place with Bishop Edwin Regan this spring.

We will be giving a talk at the one in Paenmaenmawr on 4th April.

Here is the novena - Please join in for this worthy intention;

Daily Novena Prayer
Almighty God, you have chosen Saint Joseph to be the mainstay of Jesus and Mary, the wise and faithful servant in whom they could trust.  We  pray that he may truly be the guardian of your Church; that he may inspire with confidence those who are devoted to him; that he may give security to those who work in the vineyard of Your Son; and finally, that he may be a source of strength to us, who wish, like him, to dedicate ourselves to Christ’s service, now and in times to come. Amen
