Busy Old Week!

Apologies for not blogging for several days but we've had a very busy week!

We were over in Liverpool again last Sunday to attend the Tridentine Mass at St. Anthony's in Scotland Road. It was a pleasant treat to have Msgr. Gilles Wach, the co-founder of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest present. Msgr. Gilles preached the homily in French and Canon Hudson ably translated his thoughtful words on Lenten fasting into English.

It was a doubly happy event in that the Institute recently celebrated the decree granting it pontifical right.

Msgr. Gilles asked the congregation to keep the 75 seminarians (including 3 English men) at the Italian seminary in our prayers.

The Institute's website is well worth a browse over at:-

After Liverpool we headed further north to the much vaunted 'most Catholic city in England'... the ancient settlement of Preston!
200px-preston_city_council_-_coat_of_arms.pngThe local Council's shield (from Wikipedia) pays homage to the ancient Christian heritage of the locality. The the image of the Lamb of God with the initials Prince of Peace were also the banner of Preston's patron saint - the 7th century St. Wilfred.

We were in Preston to help Fr. Simon Henry to lead an evening of catechesis on First Confession and First Holy Communion for the parents of this year's young catechumens.

Please pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to inspire all involved.

Fr. Simon offers Holy Mass in the Extraordinary Form each Saturday at 12 noon in his parish of St. Catherine Laboure, Stanifield Lane, Farington, Preston PR25 4QG.  Please support him and his parishioners with your prayers.

From Preston we headed down into the Midlands for a couple of days before arriving back home in time for a rather stormy night of Welsh weather!
